Amanda Brugel
Pointe Claire (February 27, 2010 from February 27, 2010 to Toronto ON). Pointe Claire is a quiet community which is situated in the West Island, which is part of Montreal's Island. People unfamiliar with the term frequently think that it's a distinct island that lies west of Montreal although in actual fact, there is a lot more to it. West Island is home to anything and everything that is found in Lachine west to the town of Lachine west. There is an argument that it was the place of birth for Amanda Brugel but while that is the case, her stay at the island was infrequent. Brugel lived in Courtice close to Oshawa Ontario. She was determined to become professional, however due to her rapid increase in her height, she surpassed all of her dancing partners. The article she wrote about her experience revealed written by the Toronto Star that she is 6'1" tall while wearing heels. Once I outgrew male partners I stopped. For Brugel, it was the advice of an instructor in drama from her high-school that led her to take up acting. The teacher suggested that she try her hand at a character in the school's annual production. She tried out and eventually got the character of Anne of Green Gables. The show led her to receive the award of a Fine Arts Talent Scholarship at York University where she attended the Theatre Program and graduated with A Bachelor in Fine Arts degree in the year 2000. In the 20+ years since, Brugel has been offered roles in over 60 plays on the big and small screens receiving the greatest attention when she landed the role of Rita in the award-winning show The Handmaid's Tale (pictured below). Brugel is the only Canadian actor on the show in Season 1 and appeared only in a few episodes.
